I don't do Viking. Sushi costs 800 to 1,200 yen. I think
Yes
Best sushi around, amazingly polite staff, and it feels super authentic.
Really good sushi! But if you show up during the dinner rush, your order might show up very randomly or may take a very long time. Recommend arriving before 6pm and you won't be disappointed.
Love this place, food was very good. Disappointed that the puffer fish was sold out. But all the other stuff were amazing.
The best sushi I have ever had 😋. I wish I discovered this place sooner!
Terrific sushi, cozy atmosphere. It's easy to see why Yoshihachi is an institution.
Great food a special ambiance. Lots of photos of famous people.
Super yummy! Definitely worth the money!
A very fun sit-down sushi experience with lots of photos of the main sushi chef (Yoshi) in the United States with celebrities like Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer.
I have eaten here over 100 times. Awesome experience. The wait might be long but it is for a good reason. The rolls are always on point and the beer is ice cold.
This was my husband's favorite sushi spot on his deployment here. So as soon as we moved here he brought us here. We absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was amazing. You take off your shoes to walk on the tatami mats, you sit on a pillow on the floor, under the table goes down so your legs can hang down. Everyone was extremely kind, the menu was in English too, the food may have not been fast but was so fresh and melted in your mouth. I am not a big fan of raw sushi because sometimes the texture is chewy. That was not the case here, all of our sushi was amazing. Oh and the fried rice was the best I've ever had. Again I usually don't care for fried rice but the flavors were to die for. My husband highly recommends the rainbow roll. We also loved the presentation of our food, the flowers made from carrots, fresh petals, tiny little cucumbers circles and the cute little wasabi leaf was too cute!
Environment is welcoming, staff is very friendly, food is amazing.
Let’s just say any sushi chef who is doing half his job would not leave a parasite in the fish he’s serving. Any sushi establishment that is catering to 90% American military diners should have at least one employee who can understand very very basic English. When one finds a worm in their food, she does not expect the worm to be picked out and then food returned to her. I wouldn’t recommend this place...even sushi from Aeon is much better and cheaper!
There is no other. Yoshi’s is the best in Okinawa.
Highly recommend! Great service and wonderful atmosphere. 5 F-ing Stars
Owner and chef was was wonderful. We got the Barbecue Squid and Kamikaze set to share, the flavor and the detail put in each dish was exquisite. The squid was cooked to perfection, easily my favorite part of the night. You can taste the quality of the ingredients put in everything they serve especially the sushi. That being said the place could be a bit pricey because of the atmosphere and service they provide. Not a place you should go regularly but definitely a place to place to visit. I will go back for their squid!
Very good sushi. Longer wait times but well worth it
Complete Tourist Trap. The servers are high school kids with no service experience. The subpar sushi took a super long time to be served. The fish was super thin and seemingly sat out for a while since it was warm. The place also doesn’t look clean and the menu is disgusting. This place is in complete mess. Some call it charm. Some call it neglect. Not recommend.
Fantastic sushi at a reasonable price. If you come in a group and all order sushi platters (they come in little boats), you're going to have to wait a while. But it's worth it!
Food is great but the lack of the available sauce choices is to be desired.
Yoshi needs a selfie with himself on the wall. This dude is the most talented guy in any of the photos. 10/10 would eat again.
Great food, some of the best Katsudon of my life! Service can be a little slow at times, but it’s definitely worth it.
Amazing, world renowned sushi! This is the place for Sushi in Okinawa! this is a famed spot and is a must see! great cultural experience! Felt like a bucket list spot to me!
Good food, fair prices, and a wide variety of foods not just sushi.
A variety of delicious foods. The octopus, squid, and sword fish were awesome. I will have to try the blow fish next visit
Yoshi is truly an artist when it comes to Sushi, Sashimi and other Japanese food. I was absolutely blown away by my meal. I highly recommend everyone come and experience it for yourself!
Best place to visit in Okinawa
Very well known sushi restaurant. I am not a huge sushi fan but I had a vegi roll and it was delicious. They have teriyaki and chicken Katsu for non sushi people. They also serve blowfish for those adventurous souls. The famous Habu sake is also served here (sake made with a venomous snake from the island), I recommend trying it (your lips go numb)
Best sushi on the island. This dude is a legend. It's also fun to just sit and check out all the celebrity photos he had too. You must visit!
This place had both amazing food and a relaxing, homey vibe.
Excellenct atmosphere and sushi. Large private dining for large parties. Friendly staff and great menu!
Very nice place, and welcoming to foreigners. Ordered the curry chicken rice and some sushi rolls ( rainbow roll, yoshi roll, and spicy tuna roll), and it was all great! Would recommend~
The inside of this place was amazing! There's so many personal decorations inside that makes it very original and cozy inside. The staff is extremely nice and great with understanding your order even if you say it in English. You can take an awesome picture with your samurai chef! The pricing is reasonable but you have to park a couple buildings down at the civic center public parking because they only have 3 spots out front. Even the kids menu is made to look very decorated when they bring it out to you. Highly recommend!
Delicious sushi with a variety of choices. English menu available.
The fish is pretty good quality. Nigiri I had was great. Though I have come on the weekday before, wasn’t many people, and the sushi (nigiri) was not good. Maybe they buy lesser quality on weekday or I just came on a bad day. Also expect one hour wait time on weekends so don’t be in a hurry. Both times I went recently for this review they either forgot the wasabi or forgot the ginger. The rolls are hit and miss. Average for a sushi place and the presentation is often lacking. The Alaska roll I got was a joke. I guess they were in a hurry. They also use that cheap fake crab as a filler for a lot if not all of their rolls. If you want good rolls go to Kouwa (Zen is closed now). Also, can’t really lean back because there are so many dang pictures on the wall.
I was here five years ago with my wife when we first met in Okinawa. The place has not changed the quality has not changed the matter had not changed. Great food good experience great service amazing speciality rolls.
The food was delicious and the hot sake wonderful. The rating is due to the waiting- we waited over 30 minutes for our food.
Fantastic sushi!!! Exotic fish and specialty rolls. California roll is to die for!
Great atmosphere and service. They have awesome "dinner" portions!
An absolute out of this world sushi place. Have really never had anything here I did not like. A must visit for any Okinawa trip. Famous people from all over the world come here for this sushi! It is better than anything else you have had. Yeah maybe it is a little expensive but you don't go to the Ritz Carlton and expect Motel 6 prices, right? So my advice is check it out, give it at least one chance, it is a great experience.
It was okay, but I am not the biggest fan of the place but tons of other people are. I think there are better options on the island.
I honestly can’t believe I haven’t made a review of this place yet. I’ve been here for almost three years, and frequently visit Yoshihachi. I’m an absolute lover of sushi, so when I got to Okinawa I was on an immediate hunt. I had been to three places before Yoshihachi, but once I ate here, I knew I found my favorite. The sushi is always fresh, the employees are always very friendly, and I never feel like a burden when bringing my kid, because this place is extremely child friendly.
Amazing, fresh sushi by a local legend. Table service can be a bit slow but not enough ti detract from the food. Plenty of options for people not looking for sushi.
Good sushi and friendly service. Lots of pictures of Yoshi with American celebrities on the walls.
Sashimi is very fresh and serving is big. We enjoy our meal fully. The price is very reasonable and affordable. There is a free parking bay for customer near the shop.
Best sushi on island! I love reading the bad reviews because that’s just less people taking up space in the restaurant! The wait time for sushi can be a while depending on how busy it is. We like to go before 6pm to beat the crowds because it is always busy after 6. Highly recommend calling ahead to make a reservation if you’re going after 6pm. Courteous service and the food is always fresh. Huge cuts of fish in the sashimi and nigiri (check out my pics). If you’re going solo or just two or three guests try for the sushi bar so you can watch Yoshi in action. All the pictures of Yoshi with his celebrity guests are plastered on the walls and are fun to peruse. He makes the best Unagi (bbq eel) I’ve ever had too. Don’t forget to ask him to take a picture with you!
My favorite sushi restaurant in Okinawa. One of the only places you can try blowfish. I highly recommend the Kamikaze Dinner.
Amazing sushi. If you are in Okinawa this is a must go.
Horrible service, arrived just before 8, we were seated right away but had to get their attention multiple times before placing our order. 30 minutes later we finally received our appetizer, and 30 minutes past that we still had not received a single roll. Over an hour after ordering and we had nothing come out. We cancelled the rest of the order and left hungry. Also they don't bring you water, you have to ask.
As a non-sushi fan going to this place to appease her sushi-loving friends, I will say Yoshihachi offers much better alternative food options for us sushi outcasts than most places on the island! The food is great, but the wait can be a tad bit too long for my taste, and things tend to come out on their own time rather than everyone eating at once. But from what my fellow foodies experienced, the sushi here is worth a try!
Always packed... for good reason.
